Psalm 13

Have you ever felt as if your prayers were just bouncing off the ceiling?

Read Psalm 13, I’ll wait here till you get back…

Wow, your not alone are you? David didn’t just paint on a happy face and pretend like everything was OK when his life was in turmoil. David was honest about his feelings, yet they did not rule his life, govern his actions or drive him into hopeless depression. Instead they drove him to the throne of God. He didn’t instruct God how to fix the problem, his request was for God to consider his trial, hear his prayer and give him understanding. In the end the thing that changed was David’s perspective, from earthly to heavenly. David states, in spite of the way I feel and what I’m going through, “I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.”

Can I see in my own life, that when I have trusted God through trials, He has dealt bountifully with me? Do I understand looking back that He is working his eternal purpose in my life? Will I trust that He has my best interest at heart? Can I say, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and external weight of glory,” (2 Cor. 16-17)
