Who We Are

It is our calling to be a refuge to our local community. A place where you can safely learn about God. A place to find hope. A place for you to gather with others who are on this journey. For over 40 years, that's who we have been—a gathering place where the refugees of this world (that’s everybody) can come together to seek truth and authentic relationships.

What We Believe

Where We Came From

Calvary Chapel Westminster was founded in 1976, meeting first in the home of Pastor Ken Tennapel. In 1991, the church moved to Huntington Beach, and changed its name to Calvary Chapel Huntington Beach. Pastor Bill joined the church as Senior Pastor in 1997, bringing with him a heart for missions around the globe. CCHB moved to our current location in 2005 and with it came a new name—Refuge. Wherever we have been, we have sought to be a refuge to all who enter our doors.

Where We’re Headed

At Refuge, our mission is to show our city that the ultimate refuge for us all is in God himself. We also aim to be a people and place of refuge, where you’re safe to connect with others while we all learn what it means to be followers of Jesus.

What About You?

We are here for you! We offer weekend and midweek worship services that include singing songs as a community, as well as a time of Bible study. We have a cafe, host conferences, put on community outreach events with food and music, hold an outdoor summer concert series with food trucks, and a LOT more. There's something for everybody here at Refuge, and we'd love to show you around!
